Grave of Lewis Elijah Benedict?
I came across this reference while looking up the grave of Ruben Rist (1st settler of Indian Lake)...
"Gravesite of Lewis Elijah Benedict - A son of the Indian Sabael [1797-1860], aka Lazare Panadis. Grave marked by a tear-shaped rock with a hole in its center. It is located west of the Ranger's home at Durant Lake."
Is anybody familiar with the campground at Lake Durant? Am I safe to assume this grave site is near the caretaker's cabin a few hundred yards inside the entrance at the eastern edge of the lake? I have never been there and am looking at a basic map of the campground.
Better yet... has anybody visited this site?

Looking to avoid high peaks crowds / West Canada lakes, cold river or other options?
Hello,
Looking to avoid high peaks crowds this weekend (or any crowds).. Was planning on doing West Canada Lakes or possibly Cold River area.. Initially considering High Falls but its definitely too short & sounds like it is heavily traveled..
Which is a better area - Canada Lakes or Cold River? Any other recommendations for remote 3 night / 4 day loops?
Also, on the Canada Lakes loop is it possible to find good tent spots away from the shelters? I am not a fan of staying in or near the shelters.. Many thanks!

Fish Hatchery Brook
Anyone know the condition/water levels ? Thinking about traveling it to connect Upper Saranac and Little Clear Pond. Did it years ago and it was shallow, but certainly doable. Was wondering about water levels and/or obstructions.

An Algonquin Park Canoe Loop (7 days-2016)

I head off to Algonquin Park, Ontario Canada. A "blind date" with David S. (forum alias: Coldfeet) who had planned this trip. David, needing a partner/s to go along on his trip posted on the forum an offer to anyone that may be interested to come along. I was the only respondent and we ended up having a great adventure. Each of us approached the trip as if going “solo”.

After recovering David’s gear from the Yellow Jackets we continue on our adventure. In Part II we encounter even more of the parks wildlife, enjoy “cold handle” frying pan meals, hold a “fireside” chat, discover exactly what the “Devil’s Razor” is, and we end up being escorted out of the park by an asylum of the parks summer residents. I also have an unexpected visitor surface within feet of me while swimming in Big Porcupine Lake and the fishing improves in Ragged Lake.
