Next up, Mount Marcy!

Now that I have finished my section hike of the NPT, I am looking to tackle a few of the hi-peaks with Mount Marcy being my primary objective.

I am looking for recommendations on the best way to tackle Mount Marcy while incorporating it into a 2-to-3 day backpacking trip with my 9 and 10/11 year old daughters with in the next month or so (Oct 2014). I am not entirely familiar with the area so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cung Le tests positive for HGH

http://ift.tt/YNeoPG

Sad, I thought he was a pretty straight shooter.

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le tested positive for excess levels of Human Growth Hormone (HGH) in a post-fight drug test following his fourth-round TKO loss to Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 48, promotion officials announced on Tuesday.

Le (9-3) is expected to serve a nine-month suspension retroactive to the day of the event, August 23, as a result of the failed test.

UFC officials released the following statement:

UFC middleweight Cung Le tested positive for an excess level of Human Growth Hormone in his system following his fight at UFC Fight Night in Macao, China on August 23. Due to his positive test result, Le was suspended by the UFC and notified that he violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. Le will serve a nine-month suspension and, at its conclusion, will need to pass a drug test before competing in the UFC again.

As with most UFC events held overseas, all pre- and post-fight drug tests at UFC Fight Night 48 were conducted by the UFC itself. In the case of UFC Fight Night 48, both Bisping and Le were subject to enhanced blood and urine drug testing following their fight.

Throughout the lead-up to fight week, Bisping expressed repeated concern over the enhanced physical appearance of the 42-year-old Le.

Floodwood Pond loop

Hi all.

ast week I put up a quick post about a last minute, solo, opportunity to get out and do a hike/ canoe trip. Original post here: http://ift.tt/YMVbxy

Anyway... I went and as most of you know the weather last week was fabulous so I could not have stumbled on a better series of days to go.

I did the Floodwood Pond loop and as a beginner canoe camper it was a really good choice as some of you had suggested it would be.

I drove up on Wednesday and left Sunday.

And as someone said, Fish creek Pond was an over crowded freak show. Yuk. But I paddled through it pretty quick so ultimately no big deal and paddling the connecting creek was fun vs making a carry. Also it provided me an opportunity to stop off at the beach area and use the facilities, if ya know what I mean.

Some observations beyond that:

1- Fish creek was really shallow in places and at least one couple warned that it was so shallow that they turned back and just stayed in Floodwood. Personally I had no problem. But I was one person and gear and they were 2 with what seemed like a lot of gear so they were riding pretty low in the water.

2- Camping on an island = zero available firewood. Have a stove just incase.

3- The northeastern (only 2) campsite on Little Square Pond is a great spot but I'm not really sure if a tent that needs staking out will have much flat terrain on which to set up. Hammock campers will like this spot.

4- The bald eagle at Little Square Pond was present most of my stay there and provided a great show to watch.

I have tried to attach photos to this post and will when I figure out why I am unable to.

Basically I just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions from folks.

Looking at two HEMA clubs. Thoughts?

I've found a couple places I could get to on a semi-regular basis and was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about either of them?

The first one was a place called english martial arts in Guildford but their website appears to be down which is a pain in the butt.

I also have the School of the Sword in Godalming http://ift.tt/1rLnUhX

And the 1595 club which I've seen recommended on a few boards but would probably be the hardest to get to http://www.the1595.com/

Since I know my options are limited I'm not overly fussed what material the one I go to works from or which weapons they specialise in, but I am cautious that I want to try this specifically from a historic interest standpoint so I would want to go to one that does actually work from historic sources, not just a group that messes about with swords for a bit.

On top of that, a couple other questions:

1. Due to distance, my mma training, and the fact I'm only a part time worker, I would only be able to afford to go to class once every two or three weeks. Seeing as these places seem to only do one or two a week anyway its not a huge loss compared to other clubs I've joined, but would instructors be particularly accommodating to that, or should I expect them to not be best pleased about it?

2. As you might have guessed, I'm a natural lefty. Is that a problem when it comes to HEMA type training or are people generally cool with it?

EURUSD

The Euro resumed its larger downtrend which was interrupted by narrow consolidation and eventually broke and close below near-term target at 1.2660, Nov 2012 low. Fresh weakness also probed below psychological 1.26 support, on a dip to 1.2569, new two-year low, with subsequent consolidation hovering around 1.26 handle. Bears remain firmly in play and favor further downside, with no significant supports on the way towards 1.2042, July 2012 low. Fibonacci 76.4% of 1.2042/1.3992 ascend at 1.2502, is seen as immediate target, ahead of 261.8% expansion of the wave from 1.3699 at 1.2360 and, low of May 2012, at 1.2287. Corrective rallies were capped under psychological 1.63 barrier, which, should keep the upside protected. Only break above the latter would sideline bears and sparks stronger corrective action.

L'USD/JPY a inscrit un plus haut de six ans à 110.09 après la publication du rapport Tankan du troisième trimestre. L'affaiblissement du secteur des services et des perspectives ont limité les gains.
