Pre-holiday weekend fishing

Made it out for some brook trouting before the crowds descend on the park. It was an ugly day but the fishing was worth it.

Caught some shorties but then came this guy:

Closer view:

Temiscamie hybrid I believe. If you lay him out straight and stretch at tad, he hits 20". At least that's what I'm going by. I put him back rather than do that stuff. This fish unleashed a battle I'll never forget. At one point he ran with just his back out of the water for at least 10 feet, kind of like a dolphin carrying a rider at seaworld.

Caught a few more smaller but equally spirited fish then called it a day. All fish caught casting full sink with a variety of flies, two secrets and a dragonfly nymph. Lots of pretty flowers in bloom (lady slippers and trillium)

A few weeks ago I took a hike to Tamarack Falls in the Loyalsock State Forest.* A beautiful spot that features amazing forests of hemlocks, moss, and bogs.*Incredibly green. *The falls are located in a beautiful grotto of fractured cliffs and hemlocks.**One of the state forest's best kept secrets.*

The Adirondack Architecture Guide

:Peek:
Hello everyone it has been some time since I have posted on the forum. A wife and two toddlers haven't given me as much free time to tromp through the mountains like I used to, so I haven't had much to talk about with regard to the Adirondacks.

I haven't completely abandoned the Adirondacks or this forum, which brings me to the point of this post. Over the past several years I have been working with Janet Null on a project called The Adirondack Architecture Guide. The guide is meant to be the first comprehensive guide to the building and other significant structures from the 18th century through our contemporary time within the Adirondacks.

The first of three books will be available in book stores and online at the beginning of July and is titled, The Adirondack Architecture Guide, Southern-Central Region. The book is broken into 14 marked tours on the ground or by water as well as 11 companion essays. Each tour is accompanied by detailed maps and photographs.

I will try to post updates such as book signings and other events here on the forum, but information can also be found at http://ift.tt/2rpzVk6. Where you can also download a few free tours and essays in pdf format.

Women's gi for BJJ?

Hey y'all,

You probably saw my last post that I'm looking at a couple different BJJ schools. One thing that was mentioned to me at one of the schools is that there are BJJ gis made specifically to fit women. I've never owned a gender specific gi before. Is the difference just aesthetic or is it really functional?

Jose Rizal & FMA

http://ift.tt/2qXjzh9

"Rizal taught his students reading, writing, math, Spanish and English; he taught them how to design and make projects big and small; he taught them how to farm, work with their hands, conduct business with honor; he taught them how to thrive in nature through regular treks into the hills behind his estate and in the waters nearby; he taught them the scientific method, collecting and cataloguing specimens, while coming up with hypotheses; Rizal also taught his students eskrima (fencing)."

I just read this article, posted on my buddy's fb page, thought I'd share it here.

Did Rizal really practice FMA? If so, which? I know he went to Spain and in his youth, he was taught by Spanish friars, did they teach him fencing? Did he further his education somehow while in exile in Dapitan?

This is very interesting. Looking forward to your take on this!

Happy Birthday cloudz
