A trip report of sorts. I still use disposable cameras so this will be pretty weak.
Left the put in at Little Tupper at 6:15 am Thursday. Winds light.
Three hours later arrive at Rock Pond. Nobody there.
Set up camp on the island.
Explored pond - campsite closest to the Hardigan portage (26?) destroyed by fallen trees.
Later in afternoon cow moose swam to the island, walked to within 70 ft of the campsite, turned around and swam back. Dog just stood and stared.
Used fish finder in a grid around pond. A bunch of that pond is very shallow - 3-4 feet.
Got into 12 bass on Friday - a couple of decent sized fish. Highly concentrated.
Paddled out Sat. am at 10:30. Never saw a soul on the pond. Met one day tripper by the portage on way out.
Tupper Lake wind came from the north on the way out for my first time in 20 years. Fun paddle back. Got out and tracked along the shore for long distance. Happy to report not one speck of trash.
LT is a gem. Spent years cutting kids canoeing teeth here years back.
Have not caught a brookie out of there in 10-12 years - miss them.
Amazing to have all of Rock Pond to ones self for that duration.
Time to hang up the paddles till spring. Steelhead right around the corner to get me through winter while I compile the list of next years trips.
Hope all of your paddling seasons went well!
Viking.
