9/17/2017 Bear and Buck mtn (Dix)

Climbed Bear and Buck mountains in the Dix wilderness area via West Mill Brook. I was able to drive my Forester across the ford on the river, through the culverts under the Northway and parked shortly after. I walked the rest of the road to the gate (which had one large mud walllow and some ruts), and then the trail up in to the head of the valley. There I started my climb of Bear mountain up its south face. Continued across the ridge to Buck mountain before dropping back down to the creek. Some nice early Fall colors, but way too warm for mid-September.
