I'm not a huge trout fisherman and even less of a fly fisherman. However, once or twice a year, I'll take out the old whippin' stick and visit one of my favorite childhood haunts deep within a hemlock shaded valley in the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest.

My grandfather turned me onto this stream back in the day. It doesn't have any waterfalls, huge pockets or long runs.

It certainly doesn't contain any "monsters" but, it's teeming with finger sized brookies that haven't seen the inside of the Rome Hatchery or a State Police helicopter.

I'm glad to see that "Grandpa's trout" are still thriving in this tiny little stream. Thanks for sharing it with me Gramps.
