Trolling with fly line

This spring I would like to try some trolling for trout with my fly rod and reel. I have floating and sinking fly line, I will try both depending on water temp. My question is about the hookset. When I am fly fishing in a river I constantly have my finger around the fly line as a trigger for the hookset. When trolling fly line do you just get a hookset from the way it strikes it and then it just starts peeling drag until you put the paddle down and grab the rod? Thanks. - Jason

I should add that my reel is a click and pawl, no drag. Maybe I can't do it with this reel ? Maybe I am just overthinking it
