Little Pond & Mtn. ski, Woodford VT 1-1-17

Not seeing much info here on ADK skiing, I'm posting about good snow conditions east of Bennington Vt, a short drive for many in the Albany/Troy area.

After the 2 mile slide up the snow machine packed FS 275 you enter the Glastenbury Wilderness. 16-20” of powder snow with about 12” since last tracks. Now broken out down to the pond, and up the connector SW to the App Trail, then NE up LP Mtn to 2900 ft. AT trail SW untracked toward overlook. Saw only 4 sleds total, all courteous.

Used skins to climb starting at the connector. Some water holes tricky to cross. Once on AT, nice trip up the ridge but sinking 8-12” each step. The glide down was fun but not fast enough! 7.7 mile trip total. too much work to make it to top. No crust evident.

Had to park at Pine Valley lot as small Ltl Pond lot wasn’t plowed – adds .3 each way. Bennington doesn't have more than a few inches, but lots of snow up on the plateau.
