I was wondering if people would be kind enough to help me out with trying to decide on what Martial Art would be good and if anyone could help me avoid these 'McDojos'.
I have done a little bit of Martial Arts before but rather than copy and paste out my introduction, I'd rather 'empty my cup' and start fresh.
The main two I've been looking at during my search are Boxing and Judo. Would it be bad to learn them at the same time or should I learn one then the other and pace myself?
I'm not looking to be a hardcore fighter or anything, I've fought several times for self defence on the street and intend to only fight when absolutely needed. I like the way in Boxing its about the footwork and head movements to avoid punches and set up angles. Plus I've never been hit in the face in a fight so I could do with that experience. I like in Judo you can control the power when throwing them to the ground.
I am open to other forms of martial arts if anyone has suggestions? I also looked at Wing Chun as I'm from Hong Kong so naturally it was worth a look :D
I am curious about wrestling but do not know anything about it apart from WWE... :D
Does anyone here live around Bury or Manchester and could direct me to good places to train? I live in Bury but work near Manchester so I wouldn't mind training after work in Manchester.
