This is a great 6 mile loop with a beautiful stream and excellent views from Smith's Knob, which rises 1,200 feet over the valley.* The hike along pristine Painter Run was very enjoyable with mossy cascades, trout, bee balm, and some campsites where the Loyalsock Trail crosses.* One of the best dayhike loops in the Loyalsock State Forest, or it can even be a quick overnight backpack.
