The concept behind certain punching executions in JKD are not based on experience. Experience shows us a fully fledged western boxing punch generates more damage - more so than any kung fu, Karate punch, or hybrid between one of them.
If a practioner were to master the bruce lee concept behind punching better so than the western boxing one, then it's fully logical for them to reject (full blown)western boxing. But not otherwise.
If they are able to execute them both equally well - Experience shows us a western boxing punch is to be prefered overall, and not a hybrid of the two - (certain kung fu style punch) and western boxing.
