Hello!
I have been trying to decide for a while now what martial art to start doing but I couldn't decide and came across this site via Google. I've been lurking on this website now for couple of days during breaks and decided it was time to sign up and hopefully someone can help me with my new journey. Maybe in future I'll be able to help someone else like me :)
I am 21 and live in Bury, UK.
I first got into Martial Arts when I was around 5 or so, I started Jiu Jitsu when my brother threw me into it; I got really into it until my mum found out and took me out of it. Somehow, my body seems to remember what I learnt in Jiu Jitsu from all those years ago!
Around 16 years old, I started doing Muay Thai, didn't really get into it as I felt it was just pure violence, in the sense that it was more of a who can take the most damage and return it two-fold. Probably didn't help that my brother was a Muay Thai psychopath and started trouble with anyone who just looked at him. I have nothing against Muay Thai and appreciate it is a beautiful Martial Art and did learn some valuable thing but just wasn't for me. However, I've been looking at doing Boxing lately as I just like all the weaving and bobbing, actually attempting to dodge trouble and all the footwork involved.
At 18 I started Jiu Jitsu again then got injured from football and got fat.
So yeah there's my life story. I hope to embark on a new journey of Martial Arts and really stick to it; I hope to learn more about martial arts on this forum and see you around!
