Fishing Day Trip April 2nd

I'm thinking about taking a day trip next Sunday to see if I can have any luck fishing for trout. I may or may not take my kids (9 and 16) and wife, depending on if they want to go, and if they go they would be fishing from the shore. I'm a beginner at fly fishing and if any of them come, they would be using a spin cast reel.

I live in Cortland - just south of Syracuse.
