I was in Alabama for a conference and found some time to explore.* Huntsville is a very nice city and northern Alabama has some*beautiful places.* Highlights were the Walls of Jericho, a limestone gorge with falls the disappear into the ground.* There were rapids, sinkholes, and springs that tumbled out of the ground.* I also enjoyed the small cemetery.* I really enjoyed the Sipsey Wilderness with its*sandstone gorges, cliffs, and waterfalls.* Lots of neat rock shelters, beautiful streams, and forests.* Really cool to see hemlocks growing so far south.* I wish I had more time to explore it and hope to return someday.
