I didn't climb to the true peak of Barton mountain - but the sub-peak (elev 1920) south of the summit and north of the hill with the high cliffs. From route 8, followed the intermittent path along Spuytenduivel brook. Skirted around the pond and then climbed up checking out ledges along the the steep northwest face. I returned by climbing over Brace Hill. I found a ledge on its south side - only a few hundred feet above the highway.
