Hitchins Pond vs. Round Lake?

I am planning a mid-week paddle trip the 2nd or 3rd week of Sept and want to try someplace new for me. I have never been to either Hitchins Pond or Round Lake, and was wondering what others may recommend between the 2. I'm looking to paddle in and set up a camp for a couple of days and do day trips from there. I might be leaning toward Hitchins because I hear the hike and view from Lows Ridge is pretty spetacular, but campsites there look pretty limited. Anyone know if there is any good hiking near Round Lake? My maps are not showing any. Thanks in advance for any knowledge shared.
