We hiked to Pole Hill Pond (Lake George Wild Forest) from Route 9N on Sunday September 28th. I selected the trip based on the information provided on Telemarkmikes blog and other posts on this forum. I have been looking to explore this area for a while. As previous posts mentioned, this area is not marked very well and it looks like it gets very little use. There are marked trails, but you should be ready for a bushwhack. I took Mikes advice and did not try to follow the blue markers and flagging from the small knoll near the start of the hike. We simply followed a compass line down to an old road along the creek. Once we were on the old road, it was an easy woods walk up to the pond. We had a snack at the pond and headed back to the car. The woods in this area are very open with lots of signs of wildlife. A nice afternoon exploring in the woods.
