The moderating team have had a discussion concerning the posting of threads looking for training partners. We all recognise that it is beneficial for people to have training partners and we are always pleased when strong friendships are created through people meeting on this board. This is part of our community purpose as described in the TOS.
Where possible Martial Arts Planet has supported members who wish to organise public training events and moderators have in the past organised a number of meets themselves. Each event is looked at on a case by case basis.
The direct soliciting of training partners on MAP is different to the organisation of a group training event or a member visiting a country and looking to meet as many forum members as possible. Realistically there is very little way that by allowing such soliciting MAP would be able to prevent an underage person from hooking up for training with an adult. As such there are issues both in the safeguarding and protection of children and vulnerable adults.
Members who have been present long enough to use the PM function may contact other members they know privately to discuss or arrange training, but MAP is unable to endorse threads where a member seeks a training partner. In future these threads will be closed. All members should bear in mind the TOS below if they choose to do this.
