The people I'm going with want to car camp this Saturday night and do a high peak or two Sunday. We can car camp Sunday night if needed but wouldn't mind a motel somewhere. We've stayed in Lake Placid before and liked it.
This link warns about hiking most of the high peaks until June. However I've seen other groups planning on going anyway. How important is this?
I'm not super familiar with the ADK's so I'm looking for suggestions of a hike that would fit our plans. I think probably 12-15 miles would be about our max. Any other general advice is greatly appreciated.
