Death Penalty and Dogs

So there's this picture floating around on the Internet that basically says "you'd put a dog down for traumatising your child, so why don't we do the same with peadophiles?"



I was wondering about this because there are a few here who would most certainly advocate putting a dog down for even biting a child out of retalitation, yet would not advocate the death penalty for rapists and murders.



Is there a parallel here or none to be had? I think deserves as much of a chance as a human at least, as it's arguably much much easier to "reprogramme" a dog than a human.
