My wife and I parked at the new Dirgylot Hill parking area on Route 9 just north of Schroon Lake (and immediately south of South Falls) today and did lots of great exploration in this area.
The woods are open and great for bushwhacking. Very pretty. There are also old jeep roads, herd paths, spring houses and a gravestone to keep things interesting.
We followed all the paths and found an old herd path heading NW towards the drainage that comes down from the col between Hoffman Mountain and Blue Ridge Mountain.
This may be my jumping off point for a return trip to try and tackle Blue Ridge Mountain.
Pics and more details here.
