forearm training

how often do you train your forearms, and condition them for training? when sparring, do you start by standing forearm to forearm with your partner, or do you stand further back? do you practice sticky hand drills? ive learned that most good fighters have powerful forearms.... i think its important to strengthen our forearms, not only for sensitivity, but also for its practical use as a weapon or shield.... possibly much more practical than a high shin kick if shooting for a high target at close range
