Taekwondo Help!

Greetings,

I joined TKD last July 2013 and I really enjoyed my training. The art was increasing my confidence and improving my fitness. I was enjoying it so much I was training twice a week (90min sessions)

However, since the turn of the year we have done an increasing amount of sparring. To a point where this is almost every lesson. This is an area I am very weak on. I just don't like getting hit. The club has a high standard of students who have studied various other art forms previously, such as Muay Thai and Kickboxing. They are also more flexible than I. I feel at times some of the other students use excessive force despite being set the expectation before we begin.

I took the opportunity to discuss this with my instructor and he suggested that I practice at home in front of a mirror "shadow-boxing" which I have tried but it does not seem to replicate the feeling of being in the Dojang.

More recently, I have missed more training sessions than I have attended and made various excuses for my absence I no longer feel the same enjoyment as when I started. I have begun questioning whether TKD is the right MA for me and decided I would use this forum and ask for any guidance or wisdom you could offer.

Thanks for reading.
