Are some MA's really just useless and overrated?

Ok, I know this is going to probably start a storm here.. but hey, that's why I do best is stir things up right? lol.

So I sat and was asking myself this question yesterday and today. Of course I took the CHKD. Now, I will say that I believe it would have it's place, but not in actual combat, only perhaps in an SD situation. Doing what I am doing now I will say that (with the training I had) that I would be able to perform few, if any of the moves I learned in CHKD vs. myself now. We trained to trap punches yes, but I have always questioned that without going "ok, you throw this punch at me and I'm going to trap it". It would be far to difficult to trap a fast jab that you threw when you pull that same punch back at the same speed or faster.

Other things are, if you did trap my jab, what would you do with that right elbow that came right behind it? or perhaps one of my knees?

Now, before anyone gets offended, I am not in anyway meaning to down any particular art at all. I am simply questioning the ability to use certain arts in actual combat since I myself came from one. Some things are also very complicated and your brain is overloaded. At 3 full months of training in KB, I feel much much more confident than at 6 with CHKD.

For me combat is combat. SD? That's combat even if one shot ends the fight, because you are ready to continue if that doesn't do the trick. I am constantly having "this fight could go on forever, you can't get tired" into my ear while I'm hitting the mitts so much I'm ready to fall over, puke, or both. I love what I do though.

Again, I do ask that no one be offended that I'm picking on one art vs. another. This is my view after doing one art and then doing an exact opposite type of art (in a way).
