ok so Ive been starting Goju-Ryu recently and have to admit something. Im used to training Bujinkan so thats one thing, but even though I swim and consistantly work out, I am NEVER operating at the level I am doing in Karate conditioning, the intensity and the thick gi make it very tough.
Is this normal for karate, because I havent worked up a sweat like the ones Ive been getting at this club in a long time, and Ive only gotten more healthy as time's gone on. Is there things I can do to build myself more in a similar style?
We do things like sprinting while being held back and dragging someone behind us, bear crawls, lots of flexibility, jumping squats, push ups, bag work and a lot of sparring as well (I havent been to all the classes in a week mind, but I know the days I can make it are more application based that drilling kata) but it still seems quite tough.
I assume this means Ive found a good karate instructor going off the conditioning I hear is recommended for karate-ka?
