Hi Everyone
I'm a 33 year old female who started Goju Ryu karate at the start of this year and I love it to bits. At a recent gasshuku, I was working with a blackbelt who ended up bruising my shins so badly during kicks with just his blocks that it took a month to heal and I've found myself hesitant to kick properly whenever we practice mawashi geris.
Yesterday we had another gasshuku and my shins are bruised and swollen again from my opponents blocks. I am not a wimp and I absolutely realise that bruises and pain are to be expected, but I just want to know if there's a way to toughen up my shins a little more to lessen the bruising and get me properly back on track with kicking. :Alien:
