I saw this in this morning's Schenectady paper. Photos looked like it was on the Mill Brook trail. Does anyone have any more details?
WARREN COUNTY -- State forest rangers helped rescue a horse stuck under a trail bridge last week in the Warren County town of Horicon, state Department of Environmental Conservation officials said.
They did so by temporarily dismantling the bridge.
The incident happened at about noon Sept. 10 in the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area.
A 911 caller reported that the horse, named Chance, had slipped on the small bridge, fell, and became trapped underneath, the DEC said.
Forest rangers Arthur Perryman, Benjamin Baldwin and Charles Kabrehl responded. The bridge was dismantled to allow the horse leverage to get itself back on its feet and then out.
Rangers then walked the man and horse out to the trailhead. The horse suffered minor abrasions and was taken for veterinary care as a precaution, officials said.
