Planning on bushwacking into Gooseneck Sunday evening. Have done it three times and always from a different spot. Last time I got heat exhaustion on the way in. Not fun. I plan on taking breaks and bringing extra water for the portage from Eagle L.
Anyone have any advice on a route? The one I have liked best so far starts to the right of a ledge at the western end of Eagle. Last time I was paddling around with my Hornbeck and found a lot of canoes near the old trail in various states of decay. Some were paddleable, but I will bring my own. Also the trail looks like it still gets plenty of use..... What's up with that?
I generally hesitate to even bring places like this up. What is the recommended
approach for discussing places that are a little off the beaten path?
