I'm looking for some input for a trail to somewhere I can be alone, away from light pollution and have a good view of the stars. I recently took the Red Horse trail from Big Burnt lake up to Clear Lake and if any of you are familiar, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I would go there, but I will be leaving work friday at 3:30 in the Buffalo area, and it's a 4 1/2 hr drive plus the hike was about 2 1/2 hrs, not to mention the paddle out to the trailhead. So I'm looking for somewhere I can drive closer to, but still have a good chance of being alone. And would also like a 5+ mile trail nearby to go exploring on Saturday. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
