Ok, let's try this again... ;)
My good buddy DuctTape, Jenny (my dog), and I enjoyed revisiting some
familiar territory over Veteran's Day Weekend.
A little sleet, snow, wind, & cold temps on Friday gave way to clear skies
allowing some nice views of the moon, and plenty of warm sun on Saturday,
including a beautiful sunrise.
After exploring around a bit & visiting some of the nearby lakes & ponds &
the site of an old camp, we were able to find one of the (illegally) hidden
canoes (with paddles) that had no doubt been left behind back when float
planes were allowed to fly into some of the lakes over 30 years ago.
Being that is was November & a little chilly out, we stuck close to shore,
and shaved a couple miles of bushwhacking back to our campsite, where we
cooked another awesome dinner over our campfire & enjoyed some cold
beers & good conversation.
On Sunday morning, after packing up & cooking another filling meal over the
fire, we began our hike out after returning the canoe where we found it.
Along the hike out, we made a short detour to explore an old road shown on
old maps that once lead to an old "camp", but after fighting through the thick
overgrowth & wetness along the old roadbed for about 20-30 minutes or so,
we decided to save the rest for another time and headed back to the trailhead.
We had an absolute blast, and didn't see anyone else all weekend, even though
some friends of ours were rumored to be in the area.
Some photos to share (sorry no details please)...
