Cranberry Lake Canoe Trip

Hey Folks



I'm planning a camping trip early May up north to Cranberry Lake to do some canoeing,hiking and fishing. We plan on parking in the town of Wanakena and paddling up Dead creek flow to find a camp site Some where on the lake. I have never been to this part of the Adirondacks and i'm interested to hear about particular areas of interest to explore or avoid. I was also wondering if any one has been to the area recently and knows if black fly season has started and if so best areas to avoid them. Any other general info of cranberry lake would be greatly appreciated.
