When I am in a boring situation (waiting for my car to be fixed, waiting for food at takeout, etc) I have had a reoccurring MA related daydream. I present it to you, to find out your take on how you would handle it.
A previously unknown, extremely eccentric and insanely wealthy relative (I imagine them as a mix of Tyler Durden and Howard Hughes) has put you in their will as a recipient of a trust fund that will pay all your expenses to the point where you have far more money than you are making now, and would have no real financial worries. Only catch is, you have to train MA 40 hrs a week to get any distribution from the trust fund that week. You have to quit your regular job to get any of the trust money and can have no other employment. The trust pays for the training itself, so you can pick personal trainers to work whatever schedule you want, or you can go to standard classes at MA schools. Lawyers who manage the trust have underlings monitor your training, so there is no faking it. Get hurt or sick, and can't put in 40 hrs that week and no check, so it's a good idea to save up a bit for a rainy day.
It's up to you to devise a schedule that you can put in 40 hrs of training every week with. Myself, I imagine going with about 10 hrs Internal Chinese MA, 7 hrs Karate, 8 hrs Kali/JKD, 8 hrs Muay Thai, and 7 hrs BJJ. Not sure why, but in my daydream that seems right. Of course, if you could put in 40 hrs in a single art, you'd get really, really good after a while. But I think spreading it out would reduce the risk of injury.
Anyways, If you were ever in this situation, what would your training plan be like?
