Blue Ridge (Indian Lake) - 7-10-14

Started from the Pillsbury Mt trailhead. That last 1.5 miles from Sled Harbor is tough - glad it wasn't my car. We took the trail 1.6 miles, then bushwhacked to Stony Creek and along Stony Creek to Camp No. 22 and beyond to a vly big enough to fit a football stadium. Bushwhacked to the summit from the vly. I have never seen so many ferns on the side of a mountain. The woods were quite open. We thought someone had left a beer for us attached to a tree at the summit, but it was empty. Nice views to the north from near the summit.

Using info I got from a geocaching site we found the plane wreck. Then back over the ridge to the big vly. Coming down from the vly one of our party realized that some trees had been blazed on both sides to mark a trail. It wasn't done recently, but we were able to follow the trail back to Camp No. 22. From the camp we stayed with an old logging road we found in the morning. Not as scenic as staying along the creek, but it was easy to follow and took us where we wanted to go.
