Dojo Switch Advice

I originally wanted to train in Kyokushin karate but could not fiind a dojo in my area. Instead, I decided to start at a dojo that teaches Okinawan Karate and Self Defense. The instructors and senior students are very knowledgeable and meticulous when discussing the specific of techniques. (On a side note most of the students in the adult class are at least 10+ years older than me).

Initially I was very excited about training again. So much so that I even got my roommate to join. I attended every class and practiced diligently on my own. However after a while I began to get bored. It had nothing to do with rank progression or the instructors, but the general pacing of the class. As someone who lifts 3-4 times a weeks and runs every other day, I like to sweat. In the dojo I almost never broke a sweat outside of warm ups and never once had to breathe hard. Additionally there were no opportunities to interact with students from other schools outside the dojo because our style does not compete. Kumite is also no contact :/

About a week and a half ago I found a World Oyama Karate (Full contact style founded by a top student of Mas Oyama, Shigeru Oyama) dojo which happened to be a 15 minute walk away from my current dojo. I discovered they had a free trial and decided to try it out without telling my Sensei. I was hooked after the first class. The students were closer to my age, the pace was faster, and I was working up a sweat. I even got to do some light contact kumite with an emphasis on technique and spacing.

Since my roommate and I carpooled together to my original school, I walked back there after the Oyama class to get a ride home. One of the instructirs students asked me how it was and I described my experience to him. He didn't seem impressed, saying nothing more afterward. After my next trial class, I walked back to my current dojo again to ride home roommate. This time there were more students there along with my head instructor. For some reason almost no one spoke to me, let alone looked at me. One of the students joked that heard I left to take a kickboxing class and that I should of told Sensei what I was doing. On my way out, my roommate said good night to our Sensei and I did the same. He replied to my roommate but said nothing to me.

To be honest I'm quite hurt by the way some of the students were acting. They are all grown men at least 35-55 (I'm 23) yet seemed to be acting childish. I respect each and every one of these people and appreciate everything they have done for me. I'm not sure why they feel animosity toward me since I'm only a white belt and have only been attending classes since late December.

Ultimately I have decided to switch dojos. Not because of the way the people at my current dojo are acting, but because I believe the Oyama style suits me better.

Does anyone one have any advice on how I should go about leaving my dojo?

Also should I have seen the cold shoulder coming or are my peers just acting out?

(I did not go back and proofread. Please excuse any spelling or grammar errors)
