Has anyone successfully mounted snowshoe bindings on nordic skis?

Has anyone successfully mounted and used snowshoe bindings on nordic skis?

I'd like to ski some long, gradual approaches, then switch to snowshoes without having the bulk and weight of two pairs of boots. My Pac-type boots are warmer than any ski boots I own, so the idea is to be able to ski with them too.

I have some snowshoes that were being thrown away by a university outdoor program, and want to mount their bindings on nordic skis.

I anticipate two problems with this, so before I drill the first hole I want to hear if anyone has tried this or has otherwise attained wisdom in this matter.

Problem One:

Snowshoe bindings are designed to pivot through a wide range on a sturdy pin. They're not designed to flex through that range, though I think the range of motion will be less when skiing. I'm concerned that the plastic used in the base of this binding will quickly fatigue and break from flexing.

Will my relatively soft Pac boots be doing most of the flexing, thus protecting the binding's base?

Can smart placement of the mounting screws adequately reduce the amount of flex? How many screws, and placement?

Can the base be reinforced w/o adding too much thickness or stiffness?

...

Problem Two:

Flexing stress may cause the screw heads, even with washers, to pull through the plastic.

Would a full-width strip of sheet metal over the plastic/under the screw head keep this from happening without introducing two distinct edges which would press into and stress the plastic? I could slightly round the front and rear bottom edges of the metal strip to reduce this factor, but would it be enough? Maybe slip a length of plastic wire insulation (or something else) over the edges to round and soften them?

I DuckDuckGoed (a counter-culture verb is born ;) ) this topic and got only one relevant hit: A guy in northern Minnesota used door hinges as a pivot. There was only one picture in the article, and the view of the hinge wasn't adequate.

 Hmmm.... "DuckDuckWent?
