I took my oldest son on his first hot tent winter camping trip this past weekend. We went to Rock Lake. This was an area I scouted out last winter for a possible camping location. The trail to the lake is regularly used by snowshoers which made sled hauling very enjoyable and was packed to the point that we didn't need to wear any. Crossing the lake was easy as well as there was about 3 inches of wind packed snow on it. It was an enjoyable time out. Here is a brief video report:
