Hello everyone,
I've had it in my mind to visit the Adirondacks during fall foilage season to do some backpacking. I have some available time, starting 10/4/16 to do a 3-7 night route.
Do you have any suggestions? Is that too late in the year, realistically? I use a 20 degree quilt. Could add a liner.
Primarily looking for beautiful scenic routes. Fishing would be nice, but not necessary, I can leave my rod at home.
I've never done any backpacking on the east coast so I'm unsure what to expect distance wise. I've backpacked in the Sierra mountains (John Muir Trail) and typically average around 12 miles with 2500-3000ft elevation gain per day comfortably.
My quick recon showed I might be able to do half of the NPT trail? I need to do more research on possible entry and exit points.
Thanks for any advice you can offer!
