Not much hiking, but we drove out the Coudersport Ice Mine, a unique feature where ice forms in the summer. Not really a mine, it is a pit in fractured rock. Ice forms in the summer and melts in the fall.

We then drove through the state forests to see the various vistas. We drove around the Hammersley Wild Area and I was happy to see signs for trails that lead into the wild area.

Next we went to the Tamarack Fire Tower just as a thunderstorm hit. After the storm passed, I climbed the tower to see the views of the clouds and mist lifting from the valleys and hollows. It was beautiful. I thought I could see a funnel cloud on the horizon. The PA Wilds are beautiful.
