Dragged my wife who isn't a huge bushwhack fan on a trip up the ridge today.Last month I brought a friend up the new Blue marked trail which bypassed the ridge up to the summit where he promptly stabbed his shin on a blowdown sword near the summit, much blood was involved and 5 stitches along with a infection rearing it ugly head down the road.Today we took the blue trail to the 300 or so meter contour and headed off trail and up,soon we came out on a bump that was ok.The wife said "is this it"?,no honey not yet,3 or 4 bumps later I could finally answer,"yes this is it".We came out on the very open expanse of slab rock I feel is the best part of Iron(at the survey bolt)and she was impressed. This hike was light years better than last months blue flagged route but looking back I can see why they might have wanted to keep the masses away from some sporty moments going bump to bump.Chilly 30 degree start turned into a 60 degree windless and cloud less day.Nothing to see here just move along please.http://ift.tt/2c3KQFj some pics.
