Just thought I'd share something I've been working on for a while and finally completed.
I wanted to put together a big map of the high peaks and have it on the wall in by my computer. Kind of builds the excitement up glancing at it now and then, and reminds me I have many peaks and trails awaiting me. Started with some plywood, corkboard, and then it took 3 of the Nat Geo maps to get the coverage I wanted. I carefully folded over overlapping edges and aligned carefully and pinned them all down. And then put together a list of the peaks I'd hiked and pinned them with white flags and the ones I've yet to do with red flags (plus I'll use white and red regular pins for >46). It wasnt until tonight when I finished pinning them that I realized I'm over half way, 24 peaks climbed. In the unused corners I'll tack up some photos from the trips. Only problem now is I dont have enough wall space. Its about 3'x4'. I'll be reorganizing and cleaning up though. Its nice to be able to see the whole high peaks region and all the trails in one spot, and close by, without having to unfold huge maps. So the 'war room' is nearly complete. :)
Hmmm I wonder how big of a wall it would take to do the whole park?
