Run a Linux server? Have a website? Read this

This is pretty much aimed at the nerds here on MAP, especially Linux nerds. There is a huge vulnerability in the bash shell on Linux servers. If you know what Heartbleed was, this could be worse. It's known as CVE-2014-6271, or bashbleed seems to be the trendy name for it.

If you run your own server, you should update bash ASAP.

If you have a website hosted elsewhere, get in touch with your web host and ask them if they've patched this.

Details are still coming out, so the nature of this could change as more emerges.
