This is one of my favorite trails in all seasons. Beautiful water views and lots of big trees. There's even a couple of boats with oars/paddles at Round Pond. Easy skiing in winter.
The good news is there wasn't nearly as much snow as in the Eastern High Peaks and trail breaking on skis was easy. The bad news is there was a lot more freezing rain and wet snow and tons of small trees down on the trail. I gave up after 2 hours of going over, under, and around but still enjoyed the afternoon.
On the other hand, the Jack Rabbit yesterday had no blow down at all from Old Mountain Rd to the Bark Eater .
