While browsing cracked I ran into this cliched crap:

It's like the author knows nothing about the cultural revolution or the state run "kung fu" schools or of Sanda.
It's like the ideas of young newbies we get on the forum.
Actually, a commenter seems to have got it spot on:

I lived in Zhengzhou Henan about a year ago and every once and a while I'd meet some Western Kunk Fu guy on his way to or from Song Mountain for whatever (1-year) of training. The somewhat funny thing to me - how many were so 'hardcore'. But then you have a kind of mini-industry of 60 intense white guys who are all going to be super-batman or something. The local news would usually show them doing some exercises. I'd add two things to the article: - Last year about this time there was a LOT of controversy about how the Temple is becoming far more about big business (including the 'foreign batmans' cash which is substantial), but, about how many original monks/directors have been replaced with people who were NOT those things (but might be friends and family of people who... well.. never mind). Its properly 'Gongfu' (pinyin) in standard Mandarin. 'Kung Fu' seems to be either/or a different spelling, westernization and/or a school of Gongfu. *but granted for us we just say 'Kung Fu' of course. but uhh.. yep, well a lot of 'monks' probably do smoke, drink, chat on their QQ or wechat and watch American movies. So how can i say this... because thats what they did in their business/office/government jobs in the city for the last 20 years before becoming Head Monks. If you see what im saying? |

If this is true, it might just be a case of a clueless Westerner being sold the experience he wanted to be sold. You actually see this in Japan with Ninjutsu dojos (Look up Masaaki Hatsumi). |
