Handheld GPS

I have finally decided that it is time to purchase and start carrying a handheld gps. I generally paddle ponds that require some hiking into, and often try to do loops that may include hiking between the ponds. I think that my preferences would be waterproof, readable screen, preloaded topos. Compass and altimeter would be nice. I would certainly enjoy reading about what other paddlers are carrying and why they made that choice. Thanks, John
