We have some paddling buddies who are approaching their 70th birthdays, and finding their 18 ft 1994 Wenonah is becoming unwieldy for them (in particular, for him, carrying it). They are lifelong canoe campers and want to extend their paddling enjoyment for as many years more as possible. We have convinced them to think seriously about a shorter, lighter new canoe. Does anyone have any recommendations for a lightweight tandem canoe (under 40 lbs) that is reasonably manouverable on winding rivers (but not whitewater), reasonably stable, and tracks reasonably well in open lake conditions (in other words, an all around, all purpose trip canoe)?
