I have an Orvis fly rod that is about 10 years old. It has the typical uplocking reel seat configuration. Over the years the bird's eye maple spacer has separated a wee bit from the retaining ring that is hidden in the cork handle. The job will require removing the end cap, the threaded barrel and the wood spacer itself and then re-glued and put back right.
The question is how much heat and what's the best source of heat to keep from damaging the wood spacer. Steam?
