I am considering a trip to the west branch of the Sacandaga River in the next few weeks, possibly camping on Good Luck Lake. This entire area is unfamiliar to me, so I have many questions.
Both Phil Brown's and Barbara McMartin's paddling guides cover the West Branch of the Sacandaga, but they speak of it as a day trip, and very little is said about Good Luck Lake. Are there any camp sites along the river? How about on Good Luck Lake? Is the trail leading up Good Luck Mountain accessible from the lake? Also, from the map it looks like the river parallels rt. 10 pretty closely. Anyone know just how close? The idea of listening to cars speed by while paddling doesn't really appeal to me.
