Im looking to increase my flexibility, but I hear conflicting thoughts:
one school of thought is static stretches are best because you can steadily press into them more to lengthen the muscle gradually.
another says yoga and natural movements like rotating the arms and swinging the legs and trying to make it go a little further each time is better (the arguement being that static stretches somehow damage the muscles)
now I dont know about the muscle damage, but Im looking to strengthen my tedons and ligaments as well as get more flexible (particularly tight hip and leg muscles). Im new to this stretching stuff, but I do enjoy yoga and such and it does help me not get really stiff from my job.
Which is better?
