So I'm thinking about a hike here soon - I've off the first two weeks of May and will probably come to NY to visit family and might go for atleast a dayhike with my mom perhaps in the May 7-9 timeframe. Not sure any of the details yet but was hoping to do one of the high peaks I havent yet.
A couple questions... will the black flies be out yet? What do folks think the trails will be like, I am assuming most of the high peaks are still going to be snow, atleast at higher elevations? Water levels a concern at lower elevations?
