Recommend me a club...

...for my mother.

I spoke with her earlier today and she indicated that she wanted to start taking capoeira with my group. Her reasons were for the enjoyment of it and, secondarily, to train in an MA again in preparation for a new job she's taking where she will be in contact with people with possible drug and mental illness issues. I told her that in that case she should train the capoeira for fun but consider grappling for the other concern, as that would be more conducive to handling the possible threats than the headbutting, sweeping and kicking in capoeira. She was quite receptive to this and said that she did well with grappling when she worked years ago as a prison guard (I never knew that. I knew that they had some limited unarmed combative training, but didn't know of what it was composed). She felt that it might be good to get a refresher.

What I know of my mother's previous MA background:

2 years (or so) training JKD under Tim Mousel

Some unarmed training while working for TDC as a guard

My mother is pushing 60 (will be next year), but is in pretty good shape (always has been pretty active). So age could play a factor, but I imagine that how that happens will be between her and the gym.

Now, obviously, she should visit a few places and see what she likes, but since Houston is a huge place (take a look at this comparison: http://ift.tt/1wFG7eQ), I checked out three places (really it's two) that would appear to not have her go too far out of her way and wanted to get some feedback from experienced grapplers here.

1. http://ift.tt/1wFG7eQ

This is the place that is closest to where my mother lives, but the site threw up all kinds of red flags for me. Admittedly, I'm not very versed in grappling, so I'm still putting it up to get feedback as to whether my reaction to their site is correct.

2. http://ift.tt/1H2raM9

This place is more centralized and, therefore, convenient. This looks a lot more like what is needed, but feedback is appreciated.

3. http://ift.tt/1wFG7va

Also centrally located and has both Judo and BJJ, as does the second place above.

So, what do you guys think?
